Seeing the Extraordinary in the Ordinary
Taking an extraordinary shot in an ordinary spot is one of my favorite things to do. It all started back in January when I was walking home with my roommates and it was freezing cold. So cold that there were tiny icicles hanging on the branches of a little bush. It was fascinating so I ran inside, grabbed my camera and spent the next hour walking around in the foot-deep snow getting pictures. I later submitted that photo and more like it for my Adobe Max submission.
I think we can all agree that Idaho is hidden treasure box of extraordinary shots, especially because according to NBC’s Parks and Recreation, “Idaho is basically one giant park.” The first extraordinary shot in was taken on a hike in Palisades. I noticed the gorgeous Fall leaves were coming in and there were some beautiful water drops left on them from the morning. The second extraordinary shot was taken just before the sun went down when I stopped in a parking lot, originally to take a picture of the Snake River. However, it had just rained and the parking lot puddles caught my eye more than the river did.
The Takeaway
So here’s this post’s takeaway: you can get an amazing picture anywhere, you just need the right mindset and a creative eye to see it. Also, don’t be afraid to get down and dirty! Here’s a picture of my pants after I took the parking lot image:
But it was worth it!
